Whirlwind 3 days

It has been a whirlwind for the past 3 days. Back to reality today though. =_=

Finally get to go KTV with my collegues and ex-collegue last Fri. It was an enjoyable session with lots of photo taking going on and fooling around. haha Too bad my camera ran out of battery before I can even take much photos, but nevertheless, cams from two other friends more than made up for it :) Hope to have such sessions every now and then in the future!

Saturday morning managed to get up at 830am and took a cab for a soccer session at St Wilfred's. Nice weather and a good workout. Pity took a knock on my thigh and the after effects were painful. So for the rest of the Saturday, I could not walk properly. haha slept through the afternoon and played some games, chatted on MSN and finally watched ch 8 movies till 2 am plus, pity I could not finish watching the ch 8 movie, seems quite nice, but my eyes made their own decisions and decided to shut.

Sun morning. Downtown East, Escape themepark at 11am. Had a quick brunch at White Sands before I head on down there. 1st time I been there and quite dissapointing la, though I do not have much expectations in the 1st place. A total of THREE rides were under maintanance and at the end of the day, I was offered complimentary tickets to return again with a 3 mths validity. The Go Kart was quite fun and I think it was the best ride of all. The Inverter was cool too spinning you 360 degrees. However as the day goes by, I feel a bit dizzy by all the other rides which only goes spining round and round. Put me on a roller coaster and I will not feel dizzy. Its those rides that is not exiciting but only keep on spinning round and round that is making me dizzy.

Left the place at around 5pm and had dinner at the newly opened EHUB. There was a big ferris wheel inside the EHUB and at night, the lights are nice when viewed through the glass panels. Had dinner at BBQ Chicken restuarant, which serves chicken fried in olive oil. I still think KFC is nicer though. HAHAHA. Afterwhich, another long journey home and reached home at around 930pm. After watching my favorite show at the moment, pushing daisies, off to bed and prepared for another long week at work ahead!

The weekend come and go so fast this wkend. Hopefully this weekend, I get to have more rest :) Just watched Saw 4 on my computer on a Mon evening. Gosh, I am getting dizzy again!

Can't believe this series never ends. Part 5 coming soon! But Escape Themepark, even with the complimentary tickets given to me, I will not be going back so soon again.

Story Time: Part 6

Recap the ending from part 5: "Let's FLY!" said Laura. Mike looked at Laura, lost of words for that moment or two. But soon, the worried look on his face turned into a smile and he replied, "Sure!" Laura held Mike's hand tightly and they flew to a place where lovers are destined to be together. Forever and ever. Eternally.

"Mdm, do you know about your daughter's condition at all?" asked one of the many policemen in Laura's apartment. Laura's mother was sobbing and too distraught for words. Her dad was trying to get to gripes what just happened. "If only we had known about her condition sooner and try to understand her better.." mumbled her father in a subdued voice. Strangly enough, the sight of two lost souls locked in a tight embrace on the cold and hard concrete floors set rumours running.

Youth nowadays face a host of pressures ranging from intense academic competitions to relationship commitments. Often, they feel suffocated by demands that they are unable to fulfil, whether self imposed or not. Once these limits are broken, they will be sucked into a phenomenon commonly know as angst. Often, self mutilation is a physical outlet for emotional pain. A further outlet is on the cold concrete floor, where Laura chose in the end.

Over at Mike's apartment, Mike's parents seemed more composed at the news. "Sir, do you mind if we do a search of Mike's room?" asked Bobby, the expert teenage suicide specialist from the police force. Mike's dad gave the go ahead motion. Trained in human pyschology in school, and the years of experience in the field of teenage suicide, Bobby has seen it all. "Hmm, what's this?" Bobby asked his partner. In his hands were bottles of haloperidol and perphenazine and a specialist prescribtion. He knew it, no doubt about it. Mike was suffering from schizophrenia. It a cluster of symptoms that typically includes delusions, hallucinations, disordered thinking, and emotional unresponsiveness.

Upon seeing that the detective has found out about Mike's condition, his dad stood up and walked over. "Mike has this condition since he was young. He always told us about his imaginary friend, Tim. We were concerned about his condition yet he was too young to understand. Thus, we mix those medicine in his food last time to curb his hallucination" explained Mike's dad.

Then a good chance came when Mike met with an accident. As he was crossing the road, a passer-by managed to push him away in a nick of time as the car dashed through a red light. Mike was only scratched and the passer-by was alright. In the hospital, when Mike was unconscious, the doctor told his parents that patients suffering from schizophrenia will tend to forget things for a while after a sudden impact to the body. Thus, when Mike awoke, he had no memories of Tim momentarily. Mike's parents also did not mention anything since then, but still secretly added the medicine to his food. However, things were not that rosy when Mike grew up. Apprantly, the voice of Tim grew stronger and stronger everyday when he was a teenager and one fine day, he stumbled across the medical report and prescriptions in his parents room when he was trying to find his jacket.

Mike was stunned that he had schizophrenia. He began to research on his own secretly and learnt that it cannot be cured. He kept what he knew from his parents and did not take the medicine that was mixed in his food. His condition worsen till he met Laura, who provided a temporarily relief for him. However, good things always come to an end and sadly, the two poor souls are now reunited in a place far far away, away from all the troubles. They are in a place they belong, forever and eternally.

"Well, thank you Sir, for all the information, we will seek your corporation again if need be, hope you get a good gripe on yourself. I feel for your loss too." said Bobby to Mike's dad. "Time to write a report again, wonder what my heading will be this time" thought Bobby as he was driving back to the station. Another case closed and time for a little holiday he was yearning for the past year.

At this moment, Bobby's handphone rang. "Hello?" answered Bobby. An air of silence hovered in Bobby's car. He jammed brake in the middle of the expressway. Lucikly there wasn't much cars around. Sweat broke out on Bobby's forehead as he waited in the silence. But then again, this will be told in another story........

Blind or simply don't bother?

Something very interesting happened this morning on my way to work and I simply have to pen it down. Peak hour at Bukit Batok Mrt station control, I walked towards the gantry. Normally, there are 3 gantries on the right side.

The gantries are in the order say 1, 2 and 3. Gantry 1 is the big one, where commuters can to and fro, gantry 2 is for entering and gantry 3 is for outgoing commuters. However, this morning, when I was approaching the gantries, there was a queue of at least 10 people at gantry 2. I was quite surprised. Seems that someone's card got problem, thus the queue. Initially I joined the queue but just after 3 seconds, I took a look at gantry 1 and saw it was marked with a X, which means no entry. Then I glanced at gantry 3, instead of the usual X, today it was the green tick and yet no one was using that!

I stride forward, pass the 10 people or so at gantry 2 and place my EZ link card at gantry 3. I entered without a hassle. This makes me wonder if this had been going on the whole morning!

Are the people blind or simply don't bother to check? As my friend said, Mondays mornings, most people are still in auto pilot mode. Perhaps she is right. hahaha

Clicking Sound of Death

When I switched on my computer yesterday morning, it was fine until I start to hear some clicking sound. Well this had been going on for couple of weeks now but I sort of ignored it. Then it happened! My computer suddenly hanged and I restarted it. Then it was all gone. Cannot power up, loud clicking sounds... and my worst fear was realised. My harddisk has crashed... The 1st time it happened in my life! Goodness me.

All the times my harddisk failed was because it was corrupted and the remedy is very simple. Buy a new harddisk, and use the corrupted one as a 2nd slave harddisk to transfer all necessary data then do a format of this old harddisk and it will be as good as new. However this time, the harddisk crashed. 'Clicking Sound of Death' is the term coined on online articles and it will cost lots to recover anything from the harddisk. (I have sent a request and asked for a quote from data recovery companies just for fun and I expect it to cost no less than $500 or $1000 because its a physical failure instead of a logical failure)

Haiz, actually it was due to my 2 mistakes. 1st, when the clicking sound surfaced a couple of weeks ago, I already got a bad feeling. However due to my poor error of misjudgement, I thought it was the 2nd harddisk that was giving problems! Therefore I backup all my MP3s in that 2nd harddisk first. That took me a couple of hours and 5 DVDs in all. If I have known it was my main harddisk that was giving problems, I would have backup my OUTLOOK address book, email messages and the numerous photos in my main drive first.

Second mistake: I procastinated. I actually wanted to backup these files yesterday but before I can even do anything, my com hanged and the rest was history. I had 2 weeks to backup and yet all I did was to backup my MP3s and my main installers for various programs. No point crying over spilt milk now.

I lost all my more recent photos from 2007 to now (ARGH!, memories!), my email address book (small argh!, because I got an old backup so the damage is not too great), my emails (ARGH! kept lots of emails from various important sites etc, all gone), my Favorite folder for IE7.0, (small argh!, all the websites I frequent are all gone, have to slowly look for it again if I remember. haha)

Bought a new harddisk, setup already and now my computer is up and running again but my main drive seems so empty and with the original windows XP wallpaper. haha oh well, please remember to back up often and not become like me. You won round 1, you clicking sound of death! but you can never take me down just like that. I will be ready for you next time! hahaha
