2009 will be coming to a close in another day or so. It has been quite a year for me. Not everything is smooth but generally, it is still quite a good year for me. It is time to move on to year 2010 and though I am not someone who likes to make resolutions, I will try to list down a few for 2010. In no particular order:
1) Making progress in my career.
2) Making my loved ones happy.
3) Keeping a closer watch on my investments and to learn more about new investments and make my investments grow if possible.
4) Moving on to the next phase of my life.
5) To read more and become more knowledgable in general.
6) To keep fit and healthy and to achieve a GOLD in IPPT.
7) To save more
Come end of 2010, I wonder how many of the above I can look at it and say to myself "I have achieved it".

Songs I Like
2 posts in a night for me! haha
Recently I have been humming songs in the shower. But I realised that I have been humming the same songs every time. This leads me to think that all these songs are actually the songs I like most. Some of this songs have a history and will remind me of the past. Just a list of the songs I like most in no particular order:
1) Eternal Flame by the Bangles: Grew up listening to this song in my dad's car. Whenever this song plays, I will enjoy it very much, though I did not know the song title till I was older. What I like about this song is the simple tune and wonderful voices singing the song. 'Close your eyes, Give me your hand, darlin', Do you feel my heart beating, Do you understand, Do you feel the same"
2) Favourite Band is Scorpions but though I like most of their songs, there are a couple I like best. WInd of Change. Heard this in secondary on some tapes my brother bought. It was the very first time I got exposed to the Scorpions and I grew on to love it. The song has a fantastic tune and the way the lead singer sings it is perfect. Not to mention this song became their hit song as it coincidently signifies the fall of the Berlin Wall. "The wind of change blows straight, into the face of time, like a stormwind that will ring, the freedom bell'
3) Another scorpions love ballad You and I. Powerful ballad sung with good emotions. "You and I just have a dream, to find our love a place, where we can hide away'
4) Every rose has its thorns by Poison - This is 1 song I know the lyrics by heart. It kind of describe my feelings after my 1st breakup almost 10 years ago. 'Every rose has its thorns, just like every night has its dawn'
5) Lian Shang Yi Ge Ren by You Hong Ming - My fave KTV song. Not too difficult to sing haha and the lyrics are very nice! 'Fei yao deng dao ai yuan zou fen liang tou, cai zhi dao duo bu she ni zou' Translation - Must really wait till love is gone or seperated, then realised how relucant it was to let you go?
6) Unforgiven 2 by Metallica - Powerful Song, Powerful Voice. There are 3 songs titled Unforgiven 1, 2 and 3 by them but I like 2 the most. 'I take this key and bury it in you'
7) It must have been love by Roxette - Another song I grew up listening to in my dad's car. I can say this is one of the top 3 songs I like. Fantastic singer, nice but sad lyrics and wonderful music. "It must have been love, but its over now, it was all that I wanted, now I'm living without'
8) Love of a lifetime by Firehouse - Another powerful love ballad. A very simple song but the lyrics are written well. "I finally found the love of a lifetime, a love to last my whole life through'

Relaxing place to have dinner
Previously I have not heard of Harry's Bar. However, in the recent months, I have visited there to have dinner with her a few times already. Discovered this branch which is just at Railway Mall and its just behind the place where I stayed. Perfect Location.
Whenever its quite late at night, and we just want to find a comfortable place to have dinner, we will go there. I love their beef lasagne. At $14, its not the cheapest food out there, but the serving is good and along with it comes fries and garden salad in a seperate plate. Sometimes they will have this set dinner which cost $12 nett and $14 nett respectively. Just the other day, we had the BBQ half chicken set and it taste good enough.
At any 1 time, it has never been full house (at least I have not seen it) even on weekends. Maybe the soccer season is over for now. But its quite a quiet place to have dinner and chit chat. There are 2 TV sets mounted on the walls showing sports channel and the music is not too loud and the air con is just about right.
Though its supposed to be a Bar, we have never drink there before. Perhaps it will be good to try? haha

Last thought of the day
Caught a movie called 'Sell Out' in a cinema in Cheras during my trip there a month ago. It is supposed to be a massive hit in Malaysia. (directed by a Malaysian) The starting part of the show is promising but as the show drags on, yeah I really mean DRAG ON for like 2hrs I think, it loses its direction and focus. Can you imagine having a Karaoke segment midway through the show? Where the words come out just like KTV? hahaha Mixed reviews everywhere though.
What do you think of last before you sleep? Thinking of you is priceless as I said. Why do we want to message each other before we sleep every day? It is because you are the last thing in my mind before I fall asleep. As we reflect on the day's happenings as I always do before I sleep, you will come to my mind at the end of it all. Send a simple message to your someone before you sleep each day. A simple gesture with minimal effort touches the heart.

Lazy Afternoon Tea
Lazy Afternoon Tea on May 1st at Foster's Cafe in Holland V followed by dinner at Wala Wala and finally drinks at Coffee Club. I was already very full thus I only had iced water at coffee club. Coming towards the end of a 3 days break as I am typing this. Gosh its 918pm on a Sunday already!
Cleared some clothes and stuff from my waredrobe. Going to donate some stuffs to the Salvation army tomorrow evening. Hope these stuffs will land into someone who needs it. As the saying goes, 'One Man's thrash is another's treasure'. Of course, those stuffs I am giving away are defintely not thrash, just some things which I don't really need and some are brand new!
Looking foward to a short KL trip this coming weekend. 4 days work week for the next two weeks cause I will be taking leave on Fri and Mon! Fantastic!
Hmm I wonder why the music in here is all reduced to 30 seconds only!

Unlucky with Injuries
Having just recovered from a sprained right ankle recently, I got injured again yesterday. This time it was my right toe. I was playing soccer in the field on Saturday afternoon and I went for a 50-50 ball. The other player kicked my toe in the process. F***. I am unable to continue after that as it was very painful.
This is the first time I got injured twice in a space of 2 months. Guess it will be another month or so out of soccer again. DVDs on Saturdays with the loved one here I come! hehe
Went to the TCM clinic this evening and got my first accupuncture treatment. After the doctor pressed my toe to check, I was in pain. Got 3 needles stuck in some points near my toe. First time in my life doing accupuncture though. It wasn't as painful as I though it might be. Oh well, here are some pictures not for the faint hearted!
I am going to work in slippers for the next couple of days at least hahaha! Shirt, pants and slippers! WOW! :p

The Curious Case of the 2 Right Shoes
Have you ever wondered why shoes are made in such a way that there is 1 left and 1 right shoe and they come in a pair? This is because our feet are made this way. The shape is different to begin with. Try wearing 2 right shoes and see if you can walk properly, that is if you don't sprain ur left ankle first. By forcing yourself to wear a right shoe on your left feet, it will push your left feet in such a way that it will be painful.
So why do people want to wear 2 right shoes? Any reasons? Well, simply No. It is only because they have taken the wrong shoes to begin with. I have an army mate last year who bought the army New Balance shoes last year. He just took the size and paid. At the end of the day, as he was leaving the camp, he just opened the shoe box and to his surprise, there are 2 right shoes inside. Damn, if he could have checked at the point of purchase. To make matters worst, it was the last day of the ICT (In Camp Training). On a lighter side, at least its free of charge as he paid using credits given by the army.
A more recent example is when someone wanted to go to the gym. Full of energy and raring to go. Took out the shoes and tried it on. Hmmm, the shape seems the same for both shoes. Exact same size, model. Its just that one shoe seems more worn out than the other. To her surprise and mine, its 2 right shoes! HAHAHA. That certainly brought laughter to me. She should have checked instead of assumed that the shoes in the shoe bag are 1 pair. Lesson learnt: Do not buy shoes that are the same as your family. :p
Having said that, just caught The Curious Case of Benjamin Button yesterday. I must say it is a nice story but a bit too long the movie. It doesn't help when the seat in the cinema is uncomfortable and I have a little backache after 2hr 45mins inside. In addition, a little girl sitting just beside me farted twice during the show. It was loud hahahaha. She muttered 'Excuse me' after each fart.

Sprained Ankle and Stretching Exercises
It has been 4 weeks since I last kicked a ball. Sprained my right ankle one fine Saturday morning, 5 mins into the game. I managed to play for another 2 hours or so. After which there goes my leg.
Even till now, if I try to bend my right ankle or put more pressure on it, it will hurt. It seems like an internal injury. I hope to shrug it off soon though. This coming Saturday, I will try to make my return to the game. Nothing too serious though, just easy play, to make my comeback slowly. I have been itching to kick a ball! hahaha
Just last night, I was reading a magazine when I saw this page which introduce 5 different exercises to boost core strength. This is useful for those who play active sports or simply just sit in office whole day. It will stretch your body and makes you more flexible. (Think YOGA)
Thinking that I should start to exercise after so long, I decided to try them. The first 4 was still managable. The 5th one was the killer. You are supposed to lie on your tummy (I put a folded blanket below to support). Then grabbing your ankles with your hands, you are to lift your torso and thighs up, then try to straighten your legs. Pure yoga stance I tell you. The end result supposed to look like a U shape. hahaha
The end result for me is that my whole back is aching for the whole of today. That is the result of 4 weeks of inactivity. In the midst of planning an exersise routine now though. Hope this routine helps afterall!

身为一个不爱交流,不爱说话的人,难怪到了三十岁还找不到一个适合的对象. 他就一个人过着自由自在的生活.
可是,就在这一天,一切将成为了历史,一切将改变了.这件事连他自几都没想过会发生.一个下午,他出门买午餐,在小饭中心选食物时,他身旁来了一个女子,很紧张,好象在找东西似的.他便问她在找什么.原来她的女儿不见了.他便帮她找,不久后找到了.那个女子不知道有多开心, 便要请他吃饭.他起初不要,但最后还是答应了.
奇怪的是.他们在吃饭时,谈了很多事.他也不知道自几今天怎么搞的,跟一个陌生人说了那么多心事.从她那里知到原来她离了婚,有一个五岁的小女孩.就在这时,那个小女孩转过脸来对他笑,灿烂得象太阳.他们三人就这样过了整个下午.
他们一直联络着.过了一段时期,也不知怎么搞的,他们谈到了结婚.认识不久就这样,他自几也不知道,或许她就是他所要的女子.他不管人家离过婚,只知道他们俩一定能过好日子的.就这样,他们结了婚,那个小女孩还叫他“爸爸”.
一转眼间,两年过去了.他还是以前那样,只是变得更沉默了.老婆要什么,他一定会给她.没人知道发生了什么事,也没人管.遥言说他怕老婆,不敢惹她生气.有的人却说,她暗中用了魔法,控制了他,名令他做全部的事情.可是就是没人管.
两年后的一天,一位住在他家旁边的男子看见他一个人在门口低头专注而认真地扫地,便走过去问他发生了什么事. 他看了男子一眼,用了一种平淡的语气对他说,“这就是爱”.
(平淡的人物,平淡的语气,然而包藏着相当深刻的意味)
以前老师的评语,哈哈,老师想太多了吧!

The day I learned that something out of place, may not be out of place after all
It was a warm day. I was in my bedroom reading the papers. They are going to arrive any minute now.
My mum has invited some of her friends over for a small gathering as part of the Chinese New Year celebrations. “Ding Dong!” Ah , here they come. There were 4-5 aunties and some brought their children and babies along! (to get more ang baos I suppose! Haha) With the usual formalities done and getting ang baos, I went back to my room and continue my reading, with the laughter, screaming of the kids and loud television sounds accompanying me.
After some time, I decided to go to the toilet. I passed by my mum’s bedroom and saw this cute little baby sleeping on the bed. Oh so cute! I went in and have a closer look. Then I realized, hey, how come that pillow beside the baby, and he’s not using it. Other than this out of place pillow, the bed is in a very tidy and ‘visitor welcoming pattern’.
The auntie must have accidentally shifted it la I thought. I decided to put the pillow back in place. Done, what a nice bed and a nice baby sleeping. I continued my journey to the toilet. After I am done, I happened to walk pass the bedroom again. I cannot resist going in and taking a look at the baby again. This time, his mum came in after me. I can see that she had a little shocked look on her face. She quickly took the pillow and put it back to the same spot again! I was surprised by her actions. She turned around and look at me. ‘Jialat liao’ I thought to myself. However she asked me in a nice voice if I put back the pillow. I said yes. She then calmly explained that she put the pillow beside the baby to block the baby from accidentally rolling over and falling off the bed. So the pillow served as a barrier to prevent an accident from happening!
‘Orr’ I replied. She smiled and so do I, albeit sheepishly. I took another glance at the baby and admired his look of serenity, not knowing that someone has tried to harm him or how his mum came to his rescue.
As I returned to my room, I told myself, not bad, I learned something new. That’s the day I learned that something out of place, may not be out of place after all!

Room 3-09
She was a beauty in most people’s eyes. Mine was no exception. From the 1st day I laid my eyes on her, I was totally smitten by her charm; the type of indescribable charm she emitted that made guys swarm to her like bees. I began my quest to woo her from day one.
Wait, something is not right here....
“K.C, Swee Lin, move him over to autopsy room 3-09, I’ll be there shortly. Thanks” boomed a voice. The voice seem to be coming from a distance. “Oh well what the heck” I thought.
“Eh, Swee Lin, so having a hot date tonight?” asked a male’s voice whom I presumed is K.C. “Yah la, hot date tonight, but not with you K.C!” Swee Lin replied with a mock laughter. Hmm…they seemed to be in a very relaxed mood.
“This guy sure is handsome, don’t you think so K.C?” “Yah, I must agree with you on this one Swee Lin. He looks like Tay Ping Hui, hunky built, but pity him..” Is he talking about me? Well I must attribute my good looks to my mum, the huge investment on facial care products etc…. Wait, that is not the point….

New Year, New Blog!
1st post of 2009, a bit late, but nonetheless its finally here. Decided to shift all the previous blog entries from the friendster blog to this blogspot blog. A cleaner interface and easy to read layout. Thanks to Jasmine for helping me with the setting up and the selection of this nice blog skin. (I was too lazy to do it haha)

The New Year brings us lots of surprises

The turn of the seasons to that of spring

Gone are the long hard days of winter
Where everything else seems to wither
Though the days are still long
I hope our love will remain strong
May our passion spread far and wide
And relieve everyone through this economic tide
